At Parent Night, Janet Cole posed a powerful question: How do we prepare our children for a future we cannot yet see? In a world changing rapidly through technology and artificial intelligence, she emphasized nurturing creative, curious, confident thinkers who approach challenges with resilience, empathy, and integrity.

Alongside a strong academic foundation, children need time to play, imagine, make mistakes, and build meaningful relationships. These experiences are essential preparation for life, helping children develop the courage to pursue ideas, collaborate with others, and make a positive difference. Our shared goal, she reminded families, is to raise children who will help shape the future.

Janet concluded by recognizing the dedicated teachers who bring this vision to life and inviting families to join in a toast “to the celebration of childhood.”

Our School Through Students’ Eyes

Enjoy a glimpse of daily life at Diegueño Country School, featuring classroom activities, outdoor play, and candid student reflections. Completely unscripted, the video captures our students’ personalities and perspectives—and the joy and connections at the heart of our school community.

Back to Basics Science Fair took Diegueño students on a school-wide journey to Camp Diegueño, where each grade explored caring for the Earth through hands-on projects, experiments, field trips, and service learning. Students also learned ranger skills such as weaving, gardening, clay work, compass navigation, and sewing. The experience ended with our Back to Basics Fair, followed by a school-wide picnic and talent show.
