Mission and Vision

Mission

Diegueño inspires and empowers young minds to grow intellectually, socially, and emotionally. Through personalized, collaborative learning rooted in respect, empathy, and integrity, we prepare students to become confident, capable lifelong learners.

VISION

Our vision is to nurture academic excellence and vibrant classroom engagement while also empowering our students to become compassionate humanitarians and confident communicators.

Academic Excellence

At Diegueno, team teaching, departmentalized approach (where each teacher focuses exclusively on one subject across grades K-6) and small group instruction in Math and Language Arts help meet each child’s unique needs, fostering growth and accelerating learning. We provide a well-rounded academic program that nurtures curiosity, critical thinking, and self-confidence.

Students learn to express their ideas clearly and collaborate with others, developing essential skills across all subjects. Our classrooms blend high expectations with engaging, hands-on projects that inspire creativity.

By encouraging a growth mindset and flexible thinking, we help children build resilience, adaptability, and a sense of well-being – preparing them to thrive and make a positive impact in an ever-changing world.

Active Engagement

We foster a warm and inclusive community where students connect across grade levels during shared breaks, outdoor play and in school-wide projects/activities. By interacting with peers and teachers from all grades, children feel part of a close-knit, extended family. Every day, we prioritize kindness, cooperation, and inclusion, helping each child feel valued and supported.

Opportunities for philanthropy, kindness, and mindfulness help build empathic awareness and a healthy sense of responsibility for fellow Diegueno community members and our global community.

Compassionate Humanitarians

At our school, students are actively involved in global projects that foster empathy and a sense of responsibility. From fundraising to support a girls' school in India to contributing to initiatives aimed at ending world hunger, our students learn the importance of making a difference.

These hands-on experiences inspire compassion, leadership, and a lifelong commitment to helping others, shaping our students into engaged and caring global citizens.

Confident Communicators

3rd Grade Language Arts

At Diegueno, public speaking begins in Kindergarten and grows with each grade level. Students regularly participate in class presentations and whole-school performances, developing poise and passion. With personalized coaching and thoughtful feedback, every child gains the confidence to shine.

Whether reciting original work, starring in a performances and talent shows, running for Student Council, or presenting on DIG Day or Science Fair, our students embrace each chance to speak and lead. These experiences nurture self-assurance and equip them with essential communication skills that will benefit them for a lifetime.

Diversity Statement

At Diegueno, diversity isn’t just a concept—it’s a cornerstone of who we are and the future we’re building together. Our school celebrates the uniqueness of each individual and embraces differences in culture, background, ability, identity, and perspective. Through our curriculum, community events, and daily interactions, we strive to build empathy, understanding, and respect for all. We are dedicated to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and welcoming environment where every student, family, and staff member feels seen, valued, and supported.
